Cherry Blossom Time

Posted by Picasa

I smelled the cherry blossoms today and they didn't smell at all the way I thought they would. They smell a little bit like honey, and oddly: a little bit like pepperoni!

Lots of honeybees buzzing around them. The peaches are blossoming too, they are pink. I'll take some pics of them later.

The blossoms are indeed beautiful but the fruit trees are a major target for lots of pesky insects. Last weekend I removed 7 tent caterpillar nests and the dreaded canker worms and Japanese beetles are still to come! Anyone have any good ideas about limiting the impact of these bugs? We really don't like to use poisins especially as we border on a creek.
